Women's Track Posts Strong Performances at Coast Guard

WESTFIELD, Mass. –  Brianna Deloury, Lauren Gilderdale, Mia MacDonald and Lexi Popp all won events  at the Coast Guard Academy Invitational in New London, Conn. on Saturday, as the Westfield State women's track and field team ran to a fourth place finish at the meet.

Popp won the 400 meters in a facility record time of 57.27 seconds, a mark that has her in sixth place on the national qualifying performance list.  Popp also placed second in the 200 meters in 26.10.

Deloury topped the high jump with a leap of 1.50 meters.

MacDonald completed the 3000 meter steeplechase course in 13:03.22 in her winning effort.

Gilderdale won the hammer throw with a toss of 46.62 meters (152'-11"), a distance that has her 46th on the national performance list.

 Connecticut College won the 8-team meet 149 points, edging second-place Trinity with 147. Coast Guard was third with 137 followed by Westfield with 115.

The Owls will return home next weekend to host their home meet, the Jerry Gravel Invitational on Saturday.
