Popp Wins 400 Meters at Pioneer Invitational; Owls Finish 3rd

Westfield State senior Lexi Popp won the 400 meters to lead a slate of strong performances from the Westfield State women's track and field team, as the Owls finished 3rd among 16 competing schools on Saturday at the Pioneer Invitational indoor track and field meet at Smith College in Northampton.

Lexi Popp won the 400 with a time of 58.96, with teammate Kerri Long second in 1:00.76.

Popp was also second in the 200 with a time of 26.78.

Freshman Amy O'Sullivan took a second-place finish in the 5000 meter run in 19:11.94, junior Andrea Noland finished third in the 3000 in 11:03.36, and Kelsey Chartier placed third in the long jump with leap of 4.92m  (16'-1.75").

The Owls finished with 63 points. Springfield won the meet with 100.75, with RIC second with 100 points.

Westfield will be back on track next Saturday, competing at the Massassoit Invitational at Springfield College.
