WESTFIELD, Mass. –   Westfield State senior Kelsey Johnstone (Southwick, Mass./Westfield HS) added a second New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association title to her resume on Sunday afternoon, winning the 200 breaststroke at the Tootell Pool at the University of Rhode Island.

Johnstone, who won the 100 breaststroke on Saturday, completed the 200-yard event in 2:26.66.

It is the second time that Johnstone has swept those two events at the NEISDA championship – she doubled up in those events as a sophomore in 2018.

In other action, Kait Kelly (Hampden, Mass./Minnechaug) placed ninth in the 50 backstroke, while Carly Thibodeau (Mendon, Mass.) took 11th and Jenna Albrecht (Methuen, Mass.) 16th in the 200 butterfly.

The Owls 400 freestyle relay team of Kelly, Taylor Pierce (Moriches, NY/William Floyd), Nicole Pechulis (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Johnston placed ninth.

Westfield State finished ninth in the team scoring for the meet with 451 points.  Roger Williams won the meet with 1519, followed by Simmons 1426 and Keene State 1094.   21 teams competed at the meet, which was the 100th anniversary of the NEISDA Championships.
