Owls Wrap Up Dual Meets With Win Over WestConn

WESTFIELD, Mass.  –    Westfield State swam to a 136-117 win over Western Connecticut State in the Owls final dual meet of the season on Saturday in Danbury, Conn.

With the win, the Owls improve to 7-2 in dual meets.  Westfield has posted a .500 or better record in 32 of the last 33 seasons under head coach Dave Laing.

Shannon Fitzsimmons and Kelsey Johnstone were both dual event winners for the owls.

Fitzsimmons topped the field in the 50 breaststroke in 34.79, and in the 100 yard freestyle in 59.75.  Johnstone touched the wall first in the 50 backstroke with a time of 29.87, and the 100 back in 1:05.44.

Event winners included Nicole Pechulis, Kait Kelly, Jenna Albrecht and Monique Groux.

The Owls will compete next Saturday at the Little East Conference Championships at UMass Dartmouth.
