Men's Cross Country Wins Worcester City Meet

WESTFIELD, Mass. –  Westfield State men's cross country opened up the 2019 season with a team win at the Worcester City Invitational at Moore State Park in Paxton, Mass., on Saturday.

The Owls placed five runners in the top eight finishers to finish with 25 points, outpacing Worcester State (38), Framingham State (74) and Clark University (103) in the four-team meet.

Junior Conner Grady (Douglas, Mass.) led the Owls with a second-place individual finish in 28:30. He was followed in by Kevin Rayner (3rd) , Zach Bentley (5th), Jack Merck (7th) and Brandon Leclair (8th).

Worcester State's Patrick Carleton was the individual race winner in 28:18 on the 8-kilometer course.

Westfield State will be idle next weekend before running in the UMass-Dartmouth Invitational on September 21.
