WESTFIELD, Mass.  –  Westfield State senior Tim Forrest took home second-place individual honors at the 2018 MASCAC men's cross country championship race at Mount Greylock in Williamstown, Mass. on Saturday.

Forrest navigated the muddy 8-kilometer course in 27:27.44, 10 seconds off the time of winner Trevor Wysong.

Forrest earns All-MASCAC honors by virtue of finishing in the top 10 in the race.

Westfield's next six runners narrowly missed all conference honors as Owl runners took home the 11th through 16th spots in the scoring.

Brandon Leclair (wamogo/Goshen, Conn.) led that group in 28:34, followed by Kevin Rayner, Patrick Brett, Collin Rice, Conner Grady and Yuta Suzuki.

Westfield State finished third in the team scoring in a tightly contested race.  Fitchburg State won the team title with 46 points, followed by Bridgewater with 50 and the Owls with 52.  Worcester State was fourth with 78.

The race was contested on a day when a rainy Nor'Easter battered New England with heavy rains and wind gusts prevailed throughout the afternoon.
