WESTFIELD, Mass.  – The future is bright for the Westfield State Owls cross country programs, as freshmen Amy O'Sullivan (Greenfield, Mass.) and Collin Rice (Mansfield, Mass.) nabbed the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference rookie of the week honors on Monday.

The Owls swept the two awards for the week ending September 16 copped the women's award for the second straight week.  She finished in 22nd place with a time of 19:09.52 over the 5k course at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.

On the men's side Rice finished 38th in with a time of 28:42.38 over the 8k course in the sub-varsity race at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
Westfield's cross country teams will be back in action on Saturday at the Purple Valley Invitational, which is contested over the Mount Greylock course, which will be a preview of the site for the 2018 MASCAC cross country championships later this fall.
