WESTFIELD, MA – The Westfield State University men's track and field team travels to Smith College in Northampton, MA this Saturday to compete in the MASCAC Championship. The meet will be the first ever indoor track and field Championship event for the conference, which formerly competed under the New England Alliance Championship meet.

The Owls bring heavy competition as they're led by junior Mitch Maslowski (Berlin, CT) who currently holds the second seed in the MASCAC for the 400-meter run with a time of 51.44-seconds. Maslowski also sits in fourth-place for both 60-meters and 200-meter sprints, recording a time of 7.18 seconds and 23.05 seconds, respectively.

Westfield junior Conner Grady (Douglas, MA) looks to protect a first place seeding this weekend as he sits atop the MASCAC in the 1000-meter sprint, posting a 2:39.56 time back at the Springfield College Season Opener on December 7.

Senior Zac Bentley (Acushnet, MA) expects to retain his spot as the top seeding in the MASCAC in the mile-run event, boasting a 4:26.67 run time. Bentley also recorded a 2:41.24 finish in the 1000-meters at the Springfield College Season Opener which gave him a third-place seeding in the MASCAC.

In the field, the Owls look to junior Owen Ortiz (Greenfield, MA) in the triple jump event, as he recorded a 13.47-meter jump on January 25 at the Springfield Massasoit Classic to take control of the top spot in the MASCAC. Ortiz prepares for the long jump event where he currently sits as the second seed with a recorded distance of 6.61-meters.

Senior William Canty (S. Grafton, Mass.) could also be a top point scorer for the Owls as the versatile athlete will have options in the sprints, jumps, pole vault and hurdles.

Senior Riley Moore (Holden, MA) looks to extend a successful season in the pole vault, clearing a season high of 4.00-meters. Moore's 4.00-meter vault projects him to the second place spot in the MASCAC.

The field events for the day will begin at 10:30 AM and the track events are set for a noon start time.
