WESTFIELD, Mass. - Westfield State junior William Canty (Grafton, Mass.) was named this week's MASCAC men's track Athlete of the Week, as announced by the conference earlier this afternoon.

Canty won the NEICAAA decathlon title with a school record score of 6,765 in the decathlon, breaking his own mark, while defeating a field that included athletes from Division I, II, and III schools. He won the 100 meters (11.07), the 400 meters (48.93), and the pole vault (13' 11.25"). He scored 845 points in the 100, the most of any of his events. Canty now ranks fourth on the NCAA national qualifying list.

Next up for Canty, if his place holds, the NCAA Division III championships in Geneva, Ohio next week.
