Hockey Sweeps Weekly Awards

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Westfield State men's ice hockey members Kameron Limburg (Howell, Mich.), Jake Ratcliffe (Canterbury, New Zealand), and John-Michael DiGregorio (Montreal, Quebec) swept the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) weekly awards this past week ending November 30th.

The Player of the Week award went to sophomore Jake Ratcliffe, who netted his first career hat trick in the Owls' 6-2 win over Johnson and Wales University last Tuesday. He scored two goals, including the eventual game-winner, in the first period, and finished off the hat trick in the third to seal the victory for the Owls.

Senior Kam Limburg earned the Goalie of the Week honors with his 32-save performance last week against the Wildcats. The win marked Limburg's first of the year, and his goals-against average has dropped to 2.40 with the solid outing.

Freshman John-Michael DiGregorio picked up Rookie of the Week honors with his two-point performance last Tuesday. DiGregorio netted the second goal of the game and assisted on one in the third period to help lift the Owls over the Wildcats.

The men's ice hockey team is back in action Thursday night, as they get back to MASCAC play and host Framingham State at Amelia Park Ice Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:35 p.m. per usual.
