Greco Named to All-Conference Team, Inks Pro Contract

WESTFIELD, Mass. - It's been a pretty good week for the Owls' Carl Greco.

Westfield State University junior defenseman Carl Greco (Niagara Falls, Ontario) has been named to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference's All-Conference team for the second straight season.

Greco was named to the circuit's second team after a season in which he tallied three goals and 15 assists for 21 points. He was the top scoring defenseman for the Owls and he ranked eighth in the league in assists and fifth in defenseman scoring.

Greco a business management major with a minor in marketing, is ahead of schedule academically and will graduate in just three years. On Tuesday, he signed a contract with the Fayetteville (NC) Marksmen of the Southern Professional Hockey League and will join the team immediately while he finishes his classes on-line.

Greco, 24, finishes his career with the Owls with career totals of 78 games played, nine goals and 45 assists for 54 points. Greco played junior hockey for the Hamilton Red Wings of the Ontario Junior Hockey League before attending Westfield State.

Fayetteville (formerly known as the FireAntz) has a history of signing players from Westfield State. Former Owls Kyllian Kirkwood and Dalton Jay each did short stints with Fayetteville after completing their playing careers at Westfield.

Westfield State finished the 2017-18 season with a 10-14-1 overall record and an 8-10 mark in the MASCAC. The Owls fell to UMass-Darmouth in the opening round of the conference tournament.
