WESTFIELD, Mass. - Westfield State University's freshman forward Danny Ferri (Chelmsford, Mass.) earned both the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference men's ice hockey player and rookie of the week awards Monday.

Ferri led the Owls in a 7-6 win at UMass Dartmouth on Saturday as he netted his first collegiate hat trick, scoring two in the first period that put the Owls ahead 6-5 and tallying his third with a power play goal in the third period.

Ferri currently has nine points on the season with seven goals and two assists.

The Owls improved to 9-11-1 overall and 7-8 in the MASCAC with wins over UMass Dartmouth and Framingham State last week.

Westfield State will host Worcester State on Thursday, February 15^th in Westfield, Mass at 7:35 p.m. as they look to add to their four game winning streak.
