Men's Golf Wins Second-Straight Brett Williamson Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. -- The Westfield State University men's golf team won its second-straight Brett Williamson Invitational on Thursday, held at Tekoa Country Club in Westfield, Mass. 

The Owls finished at a stellar 302 strokes as a team (+18) which was 9 strokes better than the runner up, Rhode Island College, who finished at 311 (+27). 

Westfield's "Blue" team of Ryan Koczela (Bridgewater, Mass.), Matteo Godek (Feeding Hills, Mass.), Garrett Desmond (Beverly, Mass.), J.J. Newombe (Bellingham, Mass.), and Michael Waldman (Billerica, Mass.) all shot in the 70's, putting on a great short-game display. The "White" team from Westfield finished in fourth with a score of 335 (+51), all shooting in the 80's.

The overall individual title went to MCLA's Reese Dwyer who shot a one-over 72 over the course of the day. Tyler Bosclair of Rhode Island College was two strokes behind Dwyer with a 74, and Ryan Sember of Albertus Magnus, along with the string of Owl "Blue" members finished with 75.

Next up for the Owls is a trip to the Elms College Blazer Invitational on September 29-30.
