Three Owls Receive Conference Awards

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State picked up a lot of hardware as freshman Brendon Hamilton and seniors Vawn Lord and Jauch Green, Jr. earned Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference honors. Hamilton earned the MASCAC Rookie of the Year while Lord and Green were named members of the All-Conference First Team.

Hamilton (Worcester, Mass.) averaged 6.8 points-per-game and finished in the conference top-10 with 7.2 rebounds-per-game. The freshman forward was also the MASCAC leader in field-goal percentage at 61 percent. During the season, Hamilton scored a double-double in five games with his best game coming January 29 when scored a career-high 19 points and 14 rebounds.

Lord (Amherst, Mass.) was one of two Owls named to the MASCAC All-Conference First Team. Including a 44-point performance February 19 against Salem State, the senior guard averaged the third-most points-per-game in the conference at 19.7. Lord also ranked in the top-10 in rebounds-per-game (6.7) and field-goal percentage (47.8) while earning two MASCAC Player of the Week awards.

For the second straight year, Green (Hartford, Conn.) was named a member of the All-Conference First Team. Leading the Owls to the 2020 MASCAC Championship, Green averaged the fourth-best points-per-game at 18.4. The senior forward also led the conference with 55 steals and ranked sixth in rebounds-per-game with 7.6. During the Owls' tournament run, Green averaged 26.5 points, seven rebounds, 3.5 assists, and three steals while shooting 50 percent from the field including a 30-point, 12-rebound performance in the MASCAC Championship win versus Worcester State to win tournament most valuable player.

The Owls are 20-7 overall and currently on an eight-game winning streak heading into their NCAA Tournament First Round matchup against 19th-ranked Middlebury College. This game will take place on Friday, March 6, at 4:00 P.M. at SUNY-Brockport in Brockport, New York.
