WESTFIELD, Mass.  – A local basketball rivalry is renewed on Saturday when Westfield State hosts Western New England College at the Woodward Center at noon.

Westfield State comes into the game with a 4-4 overall record, while Western New England is 2-6 on the season.

Westfield is led by duo of Jauch Green, Jr. and Marcus Collins.   Green, a junior transfer has sparked the Owls lineup with 17.6 points per game.  He's also shooting better than 50 percent from the floor and grabs nearly seven rebounds per game.  Green earned MASCAC player of the week honors last week after scoring 37 points in an overtime loss at Emmanuel.

Collins is netting 16.1 points per game and grabs 7.6 rebounds per night.

That group gets excellent scoring support, as Christopher Prophet, Peter Mafo, Vawn Lord, Malik Pouncy and Moody Bey all contribute between seven and nine points per game.

Western New England has a standout lead guard in senior Mikey Pettway, who scores more than 23 points per game, and dishes out 4.4 assists per game.

Sophomore guard Zachary Tavitian adds 13.8 points per game and provides a three-point threat, shooting better than 40 percent from behind the arc.  Junior guard Mike McGuire adds 11.6 points per game.

Last year, Western New England rallied past the Owls in the second half, 92-83 behind 20 points and eight assists from Pettway in Springfield.  Collins led Westfield with 22 points and seven rebounds.
