Field Hockey Places Four on Little East All-Academic Team

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Four members of the Westfield State field hockey team were named as Little East Conference All-Academic selections, the conference announced on Wednesday.

Juniors Marina Small (S. Harwich, Mass./Monomoy) and Katie Vamosi (Easton, Mass./Oliver Ames) and sophomores Riley Goulet (Marion, Mass./Old Rochester) and Cheryl Latona (Granby, Conn.) were named to the team.

To be selected to the LEC Academic All-Conference Team, a student-athlete must be at least in sophomore standing in the classroom, have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the previous semester, and have been at their current institution for at least one full academic year.

Small is a midfielder majoring in Criminal Justice. She started all 20 games for the Owls and finished with a goal and three assists for five points.

Vamosi is a goalkeeper majoring in athletic training and health science. Vamosi made six starts between the pipes for the Owls and finished the year with a 2.26 goals-against average.

Goulet is a goalkeeper majoring in social work. Goulet started 14 games in goal and posted a 2.90 goals-against average.

Latona is a forward majoring in nursing.  She finished the 2019 campaign with six goals and three assists for 15 points, ranking second on the team in all three categories.

The Owls finished 2019 with a 5-15 record.
