WESTFIELD, Mass.  – Westfield State senior linebacker Tyler Robbins (Valley Christian HS (Calif.) / Southwick, Mass.) was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference football defensive player of the week , brought to you by GEICO, for the final week of the 2018 regular season.

Robbins was a standout in the Owls 27-13 win over regionally-ranked Western Connecticut, making 14 total tackles, and forcing a second-quarter fumble that resulted in a scoop and score touchdown for teammate Zack Kane.

That touchdown gave the Owls a 12-7 lead they would not relinquish.

Robbins finishes the season with 71 tackles (second-most on the team). 3.5 sacks, 7.5 TFL's, recovered two fumbles and one interception.   (Robbins was featured earlier this season in THIS FEATURE on WestfieldStateOwls.com.)

Owls' running back Travon Holder (Cheney/Hartford, Conn.) was named to the league's honor roll, as he ran for 208 yards and a pair of touchdowns (66 and 5 yards) in the Owls win. Holder wraps up the season with 1,132 yards in nine games played, and finished the year with 15 touchdowns, one short of the school's record for a season.

Westfield State finished 5-5 on the season and 4-4 in the MASCAC.
