Pooler, Holder, Earn MASCAC Player of the Week Awards

WESTFIELD, Mass.  – Westfield State senior running back Travon Holder (Cheney/Hartford, Conn.) and junior kicker Corey Pooler (Middleboro, Mass.) earned the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week, and Special Teams player of the week for the week ending October 7, the league announced on Sunday.

The MASCAC Player of the Week awards are sponsored by Geico.

Both players played a key role in the Owls 38-24 road win over Mass Maritime Academy.

Pooler made all five of his extra point attempts and booted a 25-yard field goal to account for eight points in the game.

Holder rushed for 203 yards and three touchdowns, and caught one pass for 23 yards as well.

The Owls improved to 3-3 on the season with the win, and 2-2 in the MASCAC.

Westfield State will be back in action on Friday night, as the Owls travel to Fitchburg State for a 7:00 p.m. conference kickoff.
