Rey Rivera enters his tenth season with the Owls baseball team in 2024.

Rivera joined the Westfield State coaching staff for the 2015 season to work with the catchers and hitters.

A 2012 graduate of Elms College, Rivera was a four year catcher for the Blazers. He logged 101 starts, 68 hits, 17 doubles, two home runs and 38 RBIs over his collegiate career. Rivera earned a bachelor's degree in sports management and a minor in coaching from Elms.

He returned to Puerto Rico after graduation to play two years in the Puerto Rican Doble AA League for the Ceiba Marlins. He finished his rookie season with a .334 batting average and finish third in voting for Rookie of the Year honors.

He played the following two seasons for the Luquillo Turistas and Carolina Royals, finishing his professional playing career in the PR Independent League before returning to Western Mass.
