Three Owls Sign With Prestigious Summer Leagues

WESTFIELD, Mass.  – Westfield State baseball will have the opportunity to be represented in highly-regarded summer collegiate baseball programs once again, as three Owls have signed with teams in the surrounding area.

Junior Nick Martin resigned with the Worcester Bravehearts of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) for his second-straight year, while juniors Shane Bogli and Patrick Jordan have both signed with the Adirondack Trailblazers of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) based in New York.

Martin, a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) All-Conference Team selection in 2019, finished the short stint this year leading the Owls in several offensive categories. In just six games, Martin wrapped out 10 total hits (five for extra-bases) while posting a .455 average and .682 slugging percentage at the plate. Last season with the Bravehearts, Martin provided the club six doubles, one triple, two home runs, and 22 runs scored en route to an FCBL title.

Coming off a stellar 8-1 year on the mound in 2019, Shane Bogli provided 15 innings of solid pitching for the Owls in the shortened spring this year. Bogli posted a 2.40 earned-run average in three appearances, striking out six in outings against some of the top teams in the country. Last summer, Bogli was brought on by the New England Collegiate Baseball League's (NECBL) Bristol Blues, where he went 2-0 in three starts, striking out eight batters and, in Bogli fashion, only walking three in over 16 innings of work.

As a strong arm out of the bullpen with a 4.79 earned-run average in 2019, Pat Jordan made the jump to a starter for the Owls this spring. Jordan struck out two through four innings-pitched against Suffolk in his lone start this spring. Last summer, Jordan was brought on by the FCBL's inuguaral squad: the Westfield Starfires. He appeared in four games for Westfield, striking out five in 8.2 innings pitched as a late-season acquisition.
