Boudreau's Double Lifts Westfield Baseball to 4-3 Win Over Husson

Westfield State's Casey Boudreau continued his hot hitting with an RBI double in the bottom of the eighth inning that capped a an Owls comeback for a 4-3 win over Husson College on Friday at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale, Fla.

The Owls trailed 3-1 after the Eagles put up single runs in the second, third and fourth innings.

In the decisive eighth inning, Coin Dunn reached on an error, and Jamie Butler followed with a pinch-hit single.   Brett Dooley sacrificed the runners to second and third, and one run scored on Steve Saucier's sacrifice fly, which let Butler advance to third.

Michael Cruz popped a ball behind shortstop that dropped off the fielder's glove, allowing Cruz to hustle in to second, and Butler to score.

Boudreau followed with the big hit to put Westfield on top for the first time in the game.

Sophomore Trevor Edwards came on to work the ninth inning, and after hitting the first batter of the inning, retired the side in order to seal the win and pick up his first save of the season.  Scott Strachan worked a scoreless eighth inning for the Owls to get the win.   Owls sophomore Shane Bogli worked six innings, allowing eight hits and two earned runs while fanning four.

Boudreau was the lone repeat hitter for the Owls, while Cruz scored a pair of runs.

Nolan Dousa took the loss in relief for Husson after starter Jesse Colford worked six strong innings. David LeBlanc and Ethan Stoddard each had three hits for Husson.

Westfield State is now 4-3 on the season, and will close out their trip to the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational with a game against St. Scholastica (Minn.) on Saturday morning before flying home.
