Westfield State University had five spring-sport athletes recognized on the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference 2019 Spring Sportsmanship teams.

Baseball second baseman Tyler Beach (Quincy, Mass.) softball infielder Madison Philbrook (Hampshire/Westhampton, Mass.) , women's lacrosse midfielder Marissa Nimeskern (Hanover, Mass.) and track and field pole vaulter Riley Moore (Wachussett/Holden, Mass.) and sprinter/hurdler Lexi Popp (Westford Academy/Westford, Mass.) were all selected to the team.

The MASCAC Sportsmanship Team is intended to recognize one student-athlete from each team, in every sport that best demonstrates the values of the MASCAC and its Sportsmanship Statement, regardless of their overall performance or statistics for the season. A student-athlete from each institution is selected by their coach to be placed on the Sportsmanship Team of the sport in which they compete.

Beach helped the Owls baseball team to a 28-16 overall record, MASCAC regular season and tournament titles, and a berth in the NCAA Tournament.  The senior second-sacker hit .279 with two home runs and 16 rbi in 33 games played this season.

Philbrook played in 14 games as a sophomore reserve first baseman for the Owls' softball team in 2019.

Nimeskern (Hanover, Mass.) was named to the All-Conference team for a fourth straight year in 2019. She scored 31 goals and added 11 assists while helping lead the Owls to the 2019 conference tournament title and a third-straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

Moore won the men's pole vault event at the Owls' Jerry Gravel Invitational meet this spring, and placed fourth in the event at the MASCAC Championship meet.

Popp adds the sportsmanship award to a mantle that includes two-time All-America honors.  She finished fourth in the nation in the 400 hurdles at the recent NCAA Division III outdoor track and field championships which were held in Geneva, Ohio.
