Preseason Poll Picks Women's Cross Country to Finish Second

WESTFIELD, Mass.  – Westfield State women's cross country were chosen to finish second in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, by seven coaches around the league.

The Owls finished second at the MASCAC championship meet last year, earning 53 points as a team.

Worcester State was picked to top the conference and repeat as champions, earning four first place votes for 34 points. The Owls slid in at number two, collecting the other three first place votes for a total of 32 points.

The Owls will miss the likes of Jessie Cardin, four-time MASCAC runner of the year, but will look to All-Conference runner Andrea Noland (Kingston/Silver Lake), who finished third in the conference title meet, to lead the pack this fall.

The Owls open up the fall season with the Trinity Invitational in Manchester, CT on Saturday, September 8th at 10:30 a.m. The MASCAC championships are scheduled for Saturday, October 27 at Mount Greylock in Williamstown, MA.
