Volleyball Falls to Plymouth and Salve Regina in Saturday Tri-Match

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State women's volleyball dropped a pair of games against Plymouth State University and Salve Regina University from Foley Gym in Plymouth, N.H. on Saturday afternoon.

The Owls lost the opener against Plymouth in straight sets (25-19, 25-18, 25-14) before falling to Salve Regina in three sets (25-18, 25-17, 25-18) in the second game of the tri-match.

Westfield State owns a record of 8-16 overall, and remain 6-0 in the MASCAC as both games played today were non-conference matches. The Panthers move to 19-3 overall after their meeting with the Owls. The Seahawks stand at 11-12 after the contest with Westfield.

GAME ONE VS PLYMOUTH STATE

In game one, Bridgette McAndrews (Longmeadow, Mass.) piled up a game-high 12 kills and nearly half of the Owls kills in the contest as Westfield finished with 26 total kills.

Julia Dangel-Garcia (Ashland, Mass.) posted 12 assists and ten digs. Allie Hill (St. Clair Shores, Mich.) recorded a team-high 12 digs followed by Michaela O'Connor (Shrewsbury, Mass.) with 11.

GAME TWO VS SALVE REGINA

Lauren Carnes (Westfield, Mass.) paced a balanced offensive attack in game two, leading the Owls with six kills. McAndrews registered five kills, with Hanna Nihill (Chandler, Ariz.) and Sarah Bingham (Reno, Nev.) chipping in four kills apiece.

Morgan Dority (Walpole, Mass.) earned a team-best 13 assists with O'Connor racking up ten digs.

The Owls enter the final week of the regular season beginning on Halloween night as the Westfield hosts Eastern Connecticut State University on Tuesday at 7:00 P.M. for the final regular season home match of the year.
