Volleyball Stays Unbeaten in MASCAC

WESTFIELD, Mass. -  Westfield State ran out to a 9-1 lead in the first game, and never looked back as the Owls posted a 3-0 win over Massachusetts Maritime Academy in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic conference women's volleyball game on Thursday evening in Buzzards Bay, Mass.

The Owls posted scores of 25-16, 25-9, and 25-11.

Westfield improves to 8-15 overall and more importantly stays unbeaten in the MASCAC at 6-0. The Owls have a 1-game lead on MCLA and Worcester State with one regular-season conference match still remaining for each school.

Tonight, the Owls were led by 12 kills from senior Bridgette McAndrews and eight from Julia Bartiet.   Westfield split setting duties between Julia Dangel-Garcia, who dished out 15 assists, and Morgan Dority who set 12 kills.

Michaela O'Connor led the Owls with 10 digs.

The Owls step out of conference  for their next three matches, traveling to Plymouth State on Saturday, October 28 for a tri match with the Panthers and Salve Regina, and then the Owls host Eastern Connecticut on Tuesday, October 31.

Mass Maritime dipped to 4-17 and 0-6 in the MASCAC with the loss.
