Lasers Zap Owls, 3-1

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Westfield State women's volleyball team was defeated by the Lasell Lasers in four sets (25-15, 23-25, 25-21, 25-15) on Saturday, September 16 in the Woodward Center.

The Owls slip to 0-10 on the season while Lasell improves to 6-1.

The Lasers were paced by McKenna McCool's (Loomis, Calif./ Del Oro) 18 kills and Sydney Katz' (Ridgefield, Conn./ Ridgefield) 35 assists.  McCool posted a blistering .368 hitting percentage on the day.

The Owls were led by first year Lauren Carnes (Westfield, Mass./ Westfield) who connected on nine kills. Bridgette McAndrews (Longmeadow, Mass./ Longmeadow) and Sara Bingham (Reno, Nev./ Wooster) pitched in eight kills each.

Defensively the Lasers controlled the net and held an 11-4 advantage in block assists. Morgan Bogli (Vernon, Conn./ Rockville) grabbed a game-high of four. 

Allie Hill (St. Clair Shores, Mich./ Lakeview) picked up 15 digs in the setback, Maddie Caro (Chula Vista, Calif./ Otay Ranch) led all players with 19 for Lasell. 

Westfield State is idle next week and heads to Worcester State on Saturday, September 23 for a tri match with the Lancers and Connecticut College. Lasell hosts the Huskies of Southern Maine on Tuesday, September 19 at 7:00 p.m.
