Volleyball Falls at Western New England

WESTFIELD, Mass. -  Westfield State volleyball dipped to 0-9 on the season with a 3-1 loss at Western New England University in a non-conference game in Springfield on Thursday evening.

Westfield won the first game 25-19, but the Golden Bears rallied from there winning 25-17, 25-17, and 29-27 in the decisive fourth game.

Bridgette McAndrews led Westfield State with 10 kills.  Hanna Nihill and Julia Bartiet each added seven kills for the Owls.   Michaela O'Connor came up with 20 digs for Westfield, while Morgan Dority and Julia Dangel-Garcia each set 17 assists.

WNE (4-4) was led by 16 kills from Alyssa Hawes, and 11 each from Isabelle Petty and Leah Warren.

Westfield State will be back in action at home on Saturday and will look to pick up their first victory of the season in a non-conference match against Lasell University, with the first serve at noon.
