Starkey, Haradon Named To All -Conference Team

Westfield State University women's volleyball team had two players on Wednesday named to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic All Conference First Team which is voted on by the eight coaches from around the conference.

Sophomore libero Jess Haradon (Mansfield, Mass) and senior middle hitter Brianna Starkey (Rockland, Mass) were the two Owls named to the first team for their first time in their careers.

Haradon led the Owls with 389 digs and has 4.42 digs per set. Haradon also has 51 assists for the year and has 0.58 assists per set, Haradon has 16 service aces as well.

Starkey, who last year was voted second team all-conference, worked her way up to first team this year. Starkey led the Owls with 253 kills and has 2.78 kills per set. She also led the team in points with 283.5 and has 3.1 points per set. Starkey has a hitting percentage of .157 on the year.

Westfield finished the season losing to top seeded Worcester State in the MASCAC Championship Game under 16th year head coach Fred Glanville. Westfield finished 5-2 in conference play which was good enough to make the playoffs and make a run to the championship game.
