WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Owls volleyball team swept three sets (25-22, 25-16, 25-10) from Fitchburg State for a conference win in the Woodward Center on Wednesday, Sept. 26.
Westfield's three game winning streak improves their overall record to 3-12 and 2-1 in the MASCAC, Fitchburg drops to 2-11 (0-3 MASCAC).
Brianna Starkey (Rockland/ Rockland) led the Owls with 10 kills, Hanna Simpkins (Walpole, N.H./ Fall Mountain Regional) added eight kills and six service aces in the win.
Westfield setter, Ally Rega (Chelmsford/ Chelmsford) handed out 29 assists and picked up six digs.
The Falcons offense was led by Lauren Riccardi (Tewksbury, Mass./ Tewksbury Memorial) and Kristina Osborne (Ashby, Mass./ North Middlesex) who each had seven kills. Perry Joubert (Seekonk, Mass./ Seekonk) had a match-high 14 digs in the setback.
The Owls head to Middletown, Conn. tomorrow night for a 7:00 p.m. match against Wesleyan University and the Falcons take the weekend off before hosting St. Joseph (Conn.) on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at 7:00 p.m.
