Lee Takes Second in Triple Jump for Owls at Trinity Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore Eliza Lee (Walpole, Mass.) turned in a second-place performance in the triple jump to headline the women's track and field team as the Owls placed tenth in the Trinity College Invitational from Hartford, Conn. on Saturday afternoon.

Lee recorded a leap of 10.90m in the triple jump and added a top-five mark in the long jump with a distance of 4.97m, securing fifth overall. She also earned 12th in the 800m with a time of 2:25.75.

Bronwyn Pinsly delivered a strong showing in the discus throw, launching the discus to a mark of 35.08m to place fifth out of 23 competitors.

Sophomore Emily Ottomaniello (Agawam, Mass.) turned in a pair of top seven performances in two separate field events. Ottomaniello posted a fifth-place finish in the pole vault, clearing the bar at a 2.50m height. She also earned seventh place in the triple jump with a mark of 9.39m.

Shea Hamel (Longmeadow, Mass.) was the top Owls performer in the running events, placing eighth out of 52 runners in the 1500m with a time of 4:58.37.

Hartford (135 points) edged out Coast Guard (130 points) for the top spot on the day with Trinity following in third place with 99.5 points.

Westfield State will have the week to prepare for the MASCAC Championship meet which the Owls will host from Alumni Field and the Jerry Gravel Track on Friday.
