WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State first-year track athlete Devin Whalen (Marblehead, Mass.) earned conference honors this past week, receiving the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honors for her performance at the Coast Guard Invitational on Saturday.

Whalen won the 55-meter hurdles in a personal-best time of 9.60 seconds and also placed third in the 200-meter at a time of 29.04. She also added a sixth-place mark in the 55-meter dash, posting a time of 7.90.

Westfield State will participate in the Massasoit Classic from Springfield College this upcoming Saturday, a place where Whalen secured a third-place tally in the 60-meter hurdles earlier in the campaign at the season-opening meet from Springfield College.
