Three Owls earn MASCAC weekly MASCAC honors

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference is recognizing three student-athletes from the women’s indoor track team for their performances in their season opener from the Field House at the Springfield College Invitational in Springfield, Mass.

Graduate student Mia McDonald (Westfield, Mass.) earns Track Athlete of the Week for pacing the field in the 3000-meter run, distancing herself from second place by five seconds and finishing with a sweltering time of 11:02.45.

Sophomore Vicky Marin (Greenfield, Mass.) earns Field Athlete of the Week for stitching together a pair of second-place finishes in the long jump (5.11m), and triple jump (10.99m). Marin also recorded a second-place finish in the 60 hurdles with a time of 9.49.

First-year Eliza Lee earns Rookie of the Week for opening her collegiate career with a pair of fifth-place finishes in the 400-meter (1:05.65) and the triple jump (10.18m).

Westfield State University will compete next at the Pioneer Winter Classic this Saturday, December 10, from Utica College in N.Y.
