WESTFIELD, Mass. -- Westfield State University senior Lauren Gilderdale (Great Barrington, Mass.) and freshman Grace Phair (Stockbridge, Mass.) were awarded MASCAC weekly honors for their performances this past weekend in Utica.
Gilderdale won a pair of events as the Owls placed second at the Pioneer Winter Classic at Utica College on Saturday. Her two event wins included the weight throw with a toss of 15.41m (50' 6.75") and then the shot put with a toss of 11.63 (38' 2").
Phair came in first in the mile run with a time of 5:18.32 in a field of eight competitors at the same event.
Both track and field teams take a long break for the holiday season and do not return until January 18th when the Owls travel to Smith College for another "Pioneer" Invitational.
