WESTFIELD, Mass.  – The Westfield State women's track and field team captured the 2019 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor title at the Allwell North Complex at Plymouth State University in Plymouth, N.H. on Saturday.

The Owls finished with 262 points, followed by Bridgewater State with 147, Worcester with 142, and Fitchburg with 26.

Senior Lexi Popp (Westford Academy/Westford, Mass.) led the way for the Owls, winning the 200 meters in 26.72 seconds, the 400 meters in a MASCAC record time of 58.83 seconds, and was part of the Owls winning 4x200 and 4x400 relay teams.   She also placed second in the 60 meter hurdles.

The Owls had numerous event winners, as Taylor White (Westfield, Mass.) topped the 600, Rachel Farley (Wachussett/Paxton, Mass.) was first home in the 1000 meters, Amy O'Sullivan (Greenfield, Mass.) won the 5,000 meters, Mackenzie Connor (Chelmsford, Mass.) won the pole vault, Kerri Long (Weymouth, Mass.) won the long jump, and Lauren Gilderdale (Housatonic/Great Barrington, Mass.)  topped the 20-lb. Weight Throw.

The Owls also utilized their depth in several events, as O'Sullivan, Andrea Noland (Silver Lake/Kingston, Mass.) and Lauren Fitzgerald (Burncoat/Worcester, Mass.) finished 1-2-3 in the 5,000, and Westfield swept the 2-3-4-5 placings in the 3000 meters to score 20 points in that event alone.   Popp, Long and Moira MacDonald (Westfield, Mass.) ran 1-2-3 in the 400 meters as well.
