WESTFIELD, Mass.  – Westfield State juniors Brandon Leclair (Wamogo/Goshen, Conn.) and Lauren Gilderdale (Housatonic/Great Barrington, Mass.) both earned MASCAC athlete of the week honors in track and field.

Leclair was named the men's track athlete of the week after he won the 3,000 meters event at the season -opening Springfield Invitational meet with a time of 8:58.52, and currently is 13th on the NCAA DIII Indoor performance list.

Gilderdale was named the women's field athlete of the week, as she finished first in the shot put with a top throw of 12.80m (42' 0") and took home third place honors in the 20-lb. weight throw (14.47m/ 47' 05.75") at the season-opening Springfield Invitational. Currently ranks fifth nationally in the shot put and 21st in the weight throw.

Westfield State will be back in action on Saturday, December 8 as they compete at the RIC Invitational.
