Three Owls Earn All-Region Honors

Westfield, Mass. - Three Westfield State University students were recognized by U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as they announced the All-Region honorees for the 2018 NCAA Division III indoor track & field season.

Senior Jessie Cardin (Sutton, Mass.) earned the All-Region distinction for her achievement in the 5000-meter run. Cardin's season best time on the 5,000 meter run is 17:14.34. Cardin will be competing at the NCAA indoor track and field championships.

Senior Ashley Craig (Groton, Mass./ Westford Academy) was recognized for her outstanding accomplishment in the Pole Vault. Craig broke a school record in the New England Division III finals, vaulting 3.7 meters.

Junior Lexi Popp (Westford, Mass.) earned recognition for the 400-meter run, which she set Westfield's record for at the New England Division III finals, clocking in at 58.30. Popp very nearly qualified for the NCAA indoor track and field championships, missing the mark by just 8/100ths of a second.

The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each of the members of the region's top-3 relays teams. The regions used for this award - Atlantic, Central, Great Lakes, Mideast, Midwest, New England, South/Southeast and West - match those used during the cross-country season.

772 honors were given to men's athletes, and athletes from women's programs earned 781 awards.

The full list of honorees can be found in the USTFCCCA's website.
