Craig, Popp, Cardin Win Events at Final Qualifying Meet

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Westfield State University's senior Ashley Craig (Groton, Mass. / Westford Academy) won the pole vault while junior Lexi Popp (Westford, Mass. / Westford Academy) placed first in the 400 meter dash and senior Jessie Cardin (Sutton, Mass.) won the 5,000 meter run to lead the women's indoor track and field team at the Tufts Final Qualifying meet in Medford, Mass. Saturday.

Craig cleared 3.71 meters (12-02.00) to win the pole vault while Popp placed first in the 400 meter dash in a time of 57.71. Cardin ran to a first place finish in the 5,000 meter run in a time of 17:16.03.

Junior Brianna Deloury (Andover, Mass.) placed second in the high jump (1.57m, 5-01.75). Senior teammate Sabrina Pray (Mansfield, Mass.) placed third in the 60 meter hurdles in a time of 8.92 seconds, lowering her previous school record set in 2016.

The meet consisted of Division I, II and III competitors, as well as a handful of high-level club athletes.

The top 17 athletes in each event will compete at the NCAA Championship meet March 9 and 10 in Birmingham, Alabama. The qualifying list closes on Sunday.
