Owls Finish Fifth At LEC Championship Meet to Close Season

WESTFIELD, Mass.  –  Jackie Roccabruna (Pittsfield, Mass.) turned in a fourth place finish in the 100 freestyle at the Little East Conference Championship meet at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley, Mass., on Sunday, helping the Owls to a fifth place team finish.

Roccabruna stopped the clock in 56.78 seconds in the 100 free.

Allyson Linkenhoker (Monson, Mass./Belchertown) reached her third championship final of the meet, placing fifth in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:41.98.

Liv Harkins (Woburn, Mass.) advanced to the championship final in the 100 individual medley, taking home fifth place honors in 1:06.03.

Westfield capped the meet with a fifth place finish in the 400 free relay, as Alexa Richter (Westfield, Mass., Katie Colby (Shrewsbury, Mass.), Kyra Floyd (Burlington, Mass.), and Roccabruna swam a time of 4:02.34.

Westfield finished with 324 points in the 10-team meet.  Eastern Connecticut State took home the Little East title with a total of 805 points, followed by Bridgewater State (786), Keene State (780) and the University of New England (533).  Rhode Island College was sixth with 276 points.

The meet wraps up the season for the Owls, their first under head coach Matt Nodell.  Westfield finished with a 3-3 record in dual meets this season, their 29th consecutive season with a.500 or better record in dual meet competition.
