Linkenhoker Takes Second in 200 Backstroke at LEC Championships

WESTFIELD, Mass.  –  Westfield State women's swimming and diving sits in fifth place in the team scoring after Friday evening's finals at the Little East Conference Championship meet at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley, Mass.
 
The Owls totaled 130 points on the day, sitting behind Eastern Connecticut (308), Bridgewater State (291), Keene State (267) and the University of New England (167) in the 10-team meet.
 
Westfield's Allyson Linkenhoker (Monson, Mass./Belchertown HS) had the top result of the day with a second place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:16.59
 
Liv Harkins (Woburn, Mass.) placed fourth in the 200 Individual Medley with a mark of 2:23.24. Owls junior Alexa Richter (Westfield, Mass.) picked up a fifth place finish in the 500 freestyle in 5:41.14, and Jackie Roccabruna (Pittsfield, Mass.) also qualified for the A final in the 50 freestyle, finishing sixth in 26:41.   Linkenhoker, Roccabruna and Harkins' times were all season bests.
 
Competition continues on Saturday with preliminaries scheduled for 10 a.m., followed by finals at 6:30 p.m.
