Westfield State's 200-yard freestyle relay won the final event of the meet to secure a 116-113 win over Western New England University at the Alumni Healthful Living Center in Springfield on Saturday.

Alexa Richter, Ally Linkenhoker, Karoline Warzybok, and Jackie Roccabruna swam 1:50.67, outdistancing the Golden Bears top quartet in the event to secure the dual meet win.

The win was the first collegiate head coaching win for the Owls' new head coach, Matt Nodell, as his team improved to 1-1 on the season.

That group contributed the key points for the owls as Richter 50 free in 26.81 and the 200 free in 2:07.93

Linkenhoker won the 50 butterfly and 50 backstroke events, and Warzybok took the 50 and 100 breaststroke.

Westfield will next compete on Saturday, November 11 at Mount Holyoke College.
