Richter, Kaczor Add Two More LEC Titles

WESTFIELD, Mass. –  Westfield State swimming and diving crowned two more conference champions on Saturday, as Alexa Richter defended her title in the 1000 freestyle, and Wiktoria Kaczor picked up her second event win of the meet in the 200 breast stroke at the 2023 Little East Conference Championships at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley, Mass.

Richter won the 1000 free in a time of 11:11.08, lowering her seed time by 31 seconds, and touching the wall more than 23 seconds ahead of her closest competitor. She captured the event in 2022 as well.

Kaczor, who won the 50 breaststroke yesterday, added the 100-yard breaststroke medal to her accolades, finishing in 1:08.54.  Teammate Karoline Warzybok also made the A Final in the 100 breast, finishing eighth in 1:16.68

Westfield also had a trio of second place finishes on Saturday.

Allyson Linkenhoker was second in the 400 individual medley in 5:05:45 to add 17 points to the Owls team total.

Junior diver Kara Banagan garnered her second second-place finish of the meet, totaling 356.90 in the 1-meter diving finals.

Senior Nicole Pechulis took second in the 200 freestyle in 2:02.48.

Other Owls to make the A Final in their events included Olivia Harkins, who was seventh in the 100 backstroke, and Kat Ferri, who took fifth in the 50 butterfly.

The Owls placed third in the 200 medley relay.

Westfield remains in fourth among the 10 competing teams after the second day of competition.  Keene State leads the meet with 579.5, followed by Bridgewater (498), Eastern Connecticut (423.5), Westfield (397)and the University of New England (308).

The meet finishes up on Sunday, with preliminary events beginning at 10 a.m., and finals at 6:30 p.m.
