Swimming Tops UMass Dartmouth, 183-70

 WESTFIELD, Mass. –   Westfield State swimmers won 13 of the 15 individual events as the Owls scuttled the UMass Dartmouth Corsairs, 183-70 in a women's swimming and diving dual meet in North Dartmouth, Mass. on Saturday afternoon.

Sophomore Alexa Richter (Westfield, Mass.) led the way for the Owls with three event wins, as she swept the 1000 freestyle, as well as the 50 free and the 100 free events.  She swam 27.12 in the 50 and 58.73 in the100.

First-year Allyson Linkenhoker (Monson, Mass./ Belchertown) also won three events for the Owls, as she topped the 200 fly, 200 back, and the 400 individual medley events.

Senior Nicole Pechulis picked up a pair of wins in the  200 free and the 100 fly, and senior Wiktoria Kaczor (Belchertown, Mass.) was a dual winner for the Owls as she touched the wall first in the 100 and 200 yard breaststroke events.

Junior Kara Banagan (Niskayuna, N.Y.) topped both the 1-meter and the 3-meter diving, scoring 179.70 on the low board, and 221.50 on the high board.

Westfield has next weekend off from competition before they return to the pool on February 4, hosting Western Connecticut State in a dual meet that will also be the Owls senior day event. The meet begins at 1:00 p.m.
