Owls Swim Past Elms, 157-40

WESTFIELD, Mass. –   Westfield State women's swimming and diving splashed past Elms College, 157-40 at the Ely Pool on Saturday to open the spring semester portion of the schedule.

Westfield moves to 2-3 in dual meets this season, as they easily outdistanced the Blazer squad which came in short-staffed with just four swimmers on the active roster.  The Owls claimed 11 events in an uncontested fashion.

Allyson Linkenhoker topped the 50-yard butterfly in 29.93 to top Westfield's performances in the contested events.

Joni McGillis won the 50 and 100 freestyle events for the Elms, with teammate Ashley Cronkhite touching the wall first in the 50 backstroke.

Linkhoker scored a walkover win in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:12.75.   Alexa Richter picked up first place points in the 100 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. 

Nicole Pechulis (50 breaststroke) Paige Brandt (1-meter diving) Wiktoria Kaczor (100 breast, 200 IM) and Liv Harkins (500 freestyle) all earned first place points for Westfield.

The Owls will be back in competition next Saturday with a dual meet at UMass-Dartmouth.
