Smith Swims Past Owls, 168-116

WESTFIELD, Mass. –  Westfield State sophomore Alexa Richter (Westfield, Mass.) won a pair of individual events for the Owls, but Westfield fell to Smith College, 168-116 in a women's swimimg dual meet in Northampton on Saturday afternoon.

Richter topped both the 50 freestyle (26:49) and the 100 freestyle (58:36) events, and swam the anchor leg of the Owls winning 200 medley relay to open the meet, as well as the leadoff leg of the winning 200 free relay to close the meet.

Kat Ferri (Springfield, Mass./Central) , Wiktoria Kaczor (Belchertown, Mass.), and Nicole Pechulis (Longmeadow, Mass.) partnered with Richter in the 200 free relay win, while Ferri, Kaczor and Liv Harkins (Woburn, Mass.) were part of the 200 medley unit.

Kara Banagan picked up second place finishes in both the 1-meter (200.25) and 3-meter diving (202.50) events.

The Owls will break for Thanksgiving next week, and are slated to return to action on Saturday, December 3 at the Bridgewater State Invitational meet.
