WESTFIELD, Mass. –   Westfield State swimmers won five events, but Mount Holyoke College did enough to get past the Owls in their home opener, as the Lyons emerged from the Ely Pool with a 166-115 win over the Owls.

Westfield won the meet opening 200-yard medley relay, as the unit of Liv Harkins, Wiktoria Kaczor, Kat Ferri and Alexa Richter posted a time of 1:58.93 to easily outdistance the Lyons.

Harkins also topped the 50 backstroke in 30.23, and took home top points in the 200 IM when the Lyons swam exhibition late in the meet.

Wiktoria Kaczor took top honors in the 200 breaststroke in 2:39.16.

In perhaps the best race of the day, Westfield's Alexa Richter was touched out at the wall by MHC's Kamlyn Yosick by just 7/100th of a second, with Richter posting a time of 25.69 in the 50 freestyle.

Westfield also scored exhibition points in the 200 free relay, as Richter, Ferri, Karoline Warzybok and Nicole Pechulis hung a time of 1:47.01.

The Owls next meet will come next Saturday, travelling to Northampton to face Smith College.
