Owls Float Past Anchorwomen, 151-78

WESTFIELD, Mass. –  Westfield State first-year Liv Harkins (Woburn, Mass.) won three individual events to help propel Westfield State past RIC, 151-78 in a dual meet between Little East Conference foes in Providence, R.I.

The win is the first of the season for Westfield State (1-1), and its first under head coach Tom Avila.

Harkins won the 50 backstroke, the 100 backstroke, and the 100 IM.  She was also part of Westfield's winning 200 medley relay team to start the meet.

Fellow first year Allyson Linkenhofer (Monson, Mass./Belchertown), doubled up in winning the 100 freestyle and the 100 butterfly and    Senior Kat Ferri (Springfield, Mass./Central) was also a dual winner for the Owls as she topped the 50 butterfly and the 100 freestyle.

Nicole Pechulis (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Wiktoria Kaczor (Belchertown, Mass.) each won events for Westfield as well.

The Owls will have their first home meet of the season on November 12, when they host Mount Holyoke College in a dual meet.
