Richter Wins Little East Crown in 50 Freestyle

WESTFIELD, Mass. –     Westfield State first-year Alexa Richter (Westfield, Mass.) won the Little East Conference title in the 50-yard freestyle to highlight the Owls' performances on Sunday at the Little East Conference Championship meet at the Boston Sports Institute in Wellesley, Mass.

Richter posted a time of 25.25 in the finals to win the league title.  Senior teammate Nicole Pechulis (Longmeadow, Mass.) finished eighth in the event to add points for the Owls as well.

Wiktoria Kaczor (Belchertown, Mass.)  placed second in the 50 breaststroke in a time of 32.04    Karoline Warzybok (Chicopee, Mass.) was fifth in the event.

Kat Ferri (Springfield, Mass./Central) made the final and placed eighth in the 200 backstroke.

The Owls 400 medley relay team, featuring Richter, Warzybok, Ferri and Kaczor placed second 4:13.41

Wesfield was fourth in the 200 free relay in 1:44.87.

After the first full day of competition, the Owls were in fourth place in the team scoring with 188 points, while Keene State led the meet with 313.  The meet continues on Monday and Tuesday.
