Owls Swimming Downed by Mount Holyoke 165-124

Westfield, Mass. – Westfield State junior Wiktoria Kaczor (Belchertown, Mass.) and first-year swimmer Alexa Richter (Westfield, Mass.) each won three individual events and one team event, but the Owls fell short by a score of 165-124 over Mount Holyoke College on Saturday afternoon.

Richter was victorious in the 100-yard freestyle (58.38), 200-yard freestyle (2:04.81), and 500-yard freestyle (5:36.86) while opening the team-winning 200-yard medley relay. Kaczor won the 50-yard breaststroke (34.14) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.85) and was first in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:30.78.

Junior Kat Ferri (Springfield, Mass.) won the 100-yard backstroke by posting a time of 1:07.76. As a team, the Owls won both the 200-yard medley (Richter, Kaczor, Ferri, and Nicole Pechulis) with a team time of 1:59.22 and also concluded the meet by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay (Karoline Warzybok, Madison Cirillo, Aly Locke, and Pechulis) at a time of 1:56.54.

Westfield State will return home to face Smith College on Friday night at 7:00 P.M. from Ely Pool in Westfield, Mass.
