Owls Swimming Places Eight on LEC All-Academic Team

Westfield, Mass. -- The Little East Conference (LEC) announced a total of eight student athletes on the Westfield State University women's swimming and diving team who have been named to the 2019-20 LEC Winter All-Academic Team. 

In order to qualify for the LEC All-Academic team, an athlete must be at least sophomore standing in the classroom and have been enrolled in their institution for at least a full academic year. While maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through their previous semester. 

The Owls' selections included seniors Carly Thibodeau (Mendon, Mass) who majors in economics and environmental science, and Kelsey Johnstone (Southwick, Mass) who majors in athletic training.

Juniors Kait Kelly (Hamden, Mass.) a nursing major, Lila Kaplan (Franklin, Mass) who majors in communications, Hannah Mckenna (Methuen, Mass) and Heidi Demers (Springvale, Maine) who both major in criminal justice were also recognized.

Sophomore Hannah Burns (Billerica, Mass) who majors in nursing and Emily Smith (Medway, Mass) who majors in early childhood education were the Owls final two honorees.

The 2020 Westfield State women's swimming and diving team finished third at the Little East Conference championships this season.
