Kelly Wins Three Events; Owls Swim Past Golden Bears, 132-110

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Westfield State junior Kait Kelly (Hampden, Mass./Minnechaug) won three individual events and one relay to lead Westfield State to 132-110 win over Western New England in a collegiate women's swimming dual meet at the Ely Pool on Wednesday evening.

Kelly took the top spot in the 50 backstroke in 29.87, the 50 freestyle in 26.69, and the 100 backstroke in 1:05.99.   She also partnered with Kelsey Johnstone (Southwick, Mass./Westfield), Carly Thibodeau (Mendon, Mass./Nipmuc) and Sarah Sartoris (East Hartford, Conn./South Windsor) to win the 200 medley relay in 2:02.79.

Western New England's Sarah Bartlett (Branford, Conn./Sound) led the Golden Bears with wins in the 50 butterfly and the 100 butterfly.

Other winners included Westfield's Jenna Albrecht (Methuen, Mass.) in the 1000 freestyle, Johnstone in the 50 and 100 breaststroke, and Emma Colcord (Andover, Mass. /Landmark)  in the 100 and 500 freestyle.

Hannah Tricario (Seymour, Conn.) topped the 200 freestyle and Emily Elliott (Cortland, NY/Homer) won the 100 IM as the Owls had wrapped up the team scoring after 12 events and swam exhibition for the remainder of the meet.

Westfield State will next host Mount Holyoke College in a dual meet on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
